For nearly a thousand years, the Kingdom of Galifar thrived, creating a golden age in which arts, culture, scholarship, and civilization flourished. Trade routes crossed the land, sea, and air, and great urban centers grew up across the continent. Peace and prosperity reigned.

All came to an end with the death of Jarot, the last King of Galifar. His heirs divided into five feuding nations, and an age of warfare began. This great war, that most scholars have since named The Last War, tore the continent apart and killed millions.

In the aftermath of the Last War, four of the Five Nations remain, but their forces are exhausted and greatly diminished. Monsters again stalk the wilderness between cities, people turn on each other, and dark creatures stir in the deepest shadows of the Last War.
